Facebook wants to change its brand name

Facebook is the biggest social media platform in the world and Facebook as a brand name is the most familiar name among its users. Facebook has approximately  3 Billion active users every month in the world. Nowadays, this company has some bad images after several time data breaches. It seems the company has failed to protect its user’s data. In past, there is some controversy charged on Facebook by different Governments, people, and organizations.

Facebook new name is Meta

Recently this social media giant wants to change its brand name Facebook to another name. As per rumors company may change it’s name by end of this month. Facebook or the parent company’s new name may be  Meta. In Case you don’t know Horizon is a Virtual Reality & Online Video Game Published & Developed by Facebook. This is available for Windows & company-owned Oculus VR.

As per the post by the Verge “ Facebook is planning to change its company name next week to reflect its focus on building the metaverse. Meta word Comes from Metaverse.  Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg plans to declare about the Facebook name change at the company’s annual Connect conference which is held on October 28th, 2021.

A spoke person of the company secretly revealed to the verge is that “ Company also want to categorize its services under one brand name just like Google.”. Earlier in 2015 Google categorized its services under the Google parents company Alphabet.

Now, Facebook wants to keep its changed name secretly till the announcement, even the company’s senior officials are unknown about new names. But in social media, A possible name that could have something to do with Horizon is circulating.

What is Metaverse?

Metaverse is an advanced technology of virtual-reality space in which users can interact with a computer-generated environment and other users. That means Facebook wants to create its own social ecosystem.

Aside from Mark Zuckerberg’s statements, Facebook has been steadily laying the groundwork for a greater focus on the next generation of technology. Facebook set up a dedicated metaverse team. Recently, the company announced that the head of Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality, Andrew Bosworth, will be promoted to chief technology officer. And just a couple of days ago the company announced that to hire 10,000 more employees to work on the metaverse.

Mark Zuckerberg told the Verge that, The metaverse is “going to be a big focus, and I think that this is just going to be a big part of the next chapter for the way that the internet evolves after the mobile internet, and I think it’s going to be the next big chapter for our company too, really doubling down in this area.” Facebook’s new name is Meta. 

Facebook share ” We’re excited to share our vision for the metaverse at Connect next week. While we continue to focus on the important issues of today, we’ll show how we’re thinking about the future of social connection – a future made by all of us. Big things are on the horizon – see you there”. Facebook unveiled its new logo which is similar to the infinity sign.

Facebook also clear that ” The names of the apps that we build—Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp—will remain the same.” company also shares about Meta,” Announcing the Facebook company’s new name. Meta is helping to build the metaverse, a place where we’ll play and connect in 3D. Welcome to the next chapter of social connection.” Mark Zuckerberg also unveiled  Horizon home comes from the company.
